| Background: | FTSJ3 (FtsJ RNA Methyltransferase Homolog 3), also called as SPB1 RNA Methyltransferase Homolog or SPB1, is a probable methyltransferase involved in the processing of the 34S pre-rRNA to 18S rRNA and in 40S ribosomal subunit formation. Although its function is not known, a possible function of FTSJ3 can be inferred from amino acid sequence similarity to the E.coli FtsJ protein and to a mouse protein possibly involved in embryogenesis. |
